Can you tell us the story of how Province Apothecary came to be?
After struggling with allergies and eczema all my life, I began crafting natural, organic beauty products out of my kitchen. Despite my busy schedule as a costume designer and stylist, I found myself drawn to holistic skincare, using my time off to experiment with oils, waxes, and herbs- all in pursuit of the perfect skin care regime.
In 2010 I began studying Aromatherapy, Holistic Health, and Esthetics in Toronto. Here I formed the foundation of her skincare expertise, experimenting with raw materials and natural ingredients.
For me, natural beauty goes beyond simply organic and wild-crafted ingredients; natural beauty means a pledge to helping clients feel good in their own skin.
As part of my individually-tailored approach to skin care, I gather so much inspiration from my clients, the weather, and the seasons.
My facial treatments often include hand-blended masks using local produce and seasonally appropriate, farmer-friendly ingredients. While PA has long outgrown the kitchen, my devotion to fresh, wild-crafted, seasonal, and organic beauty continues.
Now a certified holistic esthetician and aromatherapist, I remain committed to innovation, sustainability, and small-batch skin care of the highest quality.
What is your brand philosophy?
What I want most is to create pure, effective products that benefit even the most sensitive complexions so that you can feel beautiful in your skin.
Province Apothecary began with the mission to produce the best skincare products using only high quality, certified organic, biodynamic and wildcrafted ingredients sourced from each Canadian provinces.
With expertise I formulate, blend, and package all products by hand in small batches, ensuring the highest quality skincare for you. I am blending the wilds of Canada into nourishing and balancing skincare.
What inspires you to give back?
I think it’s so important. Part of our philosophy is to support our skin, our local community, and the planet.
We would have no food, flowers or plants without bees. I never expected it would be so hard to find organic botanical ingredients in Canada– so we give back to help more Canadian farmers become organic farmers. And we give back 1% to the planet.
What’s the most exciting experience you’ve had since your business started?
Every day is pretty exciting! It’s so wonderful to see our clients have amazing skin after using our products.
Tell us about the eczema balm we are featuring in our April box!
I have had eczema since I was born- so our eczema balm is the reason I started the business. I wanted to make a natural solution for my skin issues and help others as well.
Can you give us an example of what NOT to do when running a business?
Think you can do everything on your own! We have a team of creative and inspiring women that help make PA happen!
What do you think the world needs the most right now?
A lot of things but in the natural skincare world- it needs educated formulators that are using ethically and sustainably sourced ingredient.
Anything else you’d like to share with our Craftly community?
